One would wonder what is the use of an IT professional in the retail industry… well, the fact is that IT professionals do form a core part of the retail industry. They are the backbone of the major departmental stores and malls. They are the ones who keep the security systems in place.

In the recent past there was an incident that occurred in the mall where a young lady was sitting on a bench waiting for her friend to come. She left her phone on the bench and went for a stroll and within minutes a lady picked the phone from there. The young lady suddenly realized that she lost the phone and created a story that she had been mgged in the lady's washroom. However, the close circuit cameras proved that her carelessness cost her the phone.

This was all thanks to the IT professionals handling the technical security system of the mall. This is a way of also discouraging habitual shoplifters. They need to realize that beyond the on-the-floor- sales persons, there are cameras watching the move of every individual.

IT jobs in retail are not only related to the security department, but otherwise too. For instances, some outlets have a website that needs to be maintained. Or then the billing and accounting department that is completely computerized need people from the IT field. Thus, there is a lot of scope for IT job hunters in the industry of retailing.
